[简介]  Oxfam Trailwalker         乐施会毅行者

Oxfam Trailwalker is organized by Oxfam Hong Kong to raise money for helping poor people in Hong Kong and other parts of Asia and Africa.

乐施会毅行者由香港乐施会组织，目的是为筹集资金帮助香港、亚洲和非洲的其它地方的穷人。

Trailwalker is held in November every year.

乐施会毅行者活动在每年十一月份举行。

People over eighteen can group themselves into a team of four people and join this charity walk.

十八岁以上的人可以组成一个四人组/队并参加这一慈善游行。

Oxfam Trailwalker is a tough hike because you have to finish walking a 100-kilometre trail within 48 hours.

乐施会毅行者是一个艰难的游行，因为你不得不在48小时之内走完100公里。

①People over eighteen are allowed to enter the Internet Bar.

允许十八岁以上的人进入网吧。

② The trailwalkers have to walk over 20 hills and mountains.

毅行者不得不走过20多座丘陵和山脉。

2. group:  v.  分组，聚集

① We are grouped into six age groups. (n.)

我们被分成六个年龄组。

② The police grouped round the town.

警方围集在小镇周围。

③ Different flowers can be grouped together.

不同的花可以组合在一起。

sb. group oneselves into a team of …people

(v. 分组)

某些人组成一个（多少）人的组

The students of Class Four grouped themselves into a team of six people before the spring outing.

3. tough: adj.  困难的，艰难的

① It is tough to find a job these days.

近来很难找到工作。

② The task is so tough that I can’t finish it on time.

这项任务如此难，我无法按时完成。

4. within:  prep.  不超过（某段时间或某段距离）

① The boss wants the work to be done within three days.

老板要求这工作在三天内完成。

② There is a hotel within a mile.

一英里内有一个旅馆。

[区别]                   within                                 in

                          在……之内         在……里，在……后，过……后（与将来时连用）

Mrs Smith will be back in five minutes. Smith太太五分钟之后回来。

5. 复合形容词：一般作定语，不做表语

6. walk through…             穿过

 prep.

① The trailwalkers have to walk through eight country parks and over twenty hills and mountains.       毅行者们不得不穿过8个郊野公园和20多座丘陵和山脉。

② It took us three hours to walk through the forest. 

       我们花了三个小时穿过那片森林。

③ People are searched carefully every time they go through the gate.

       人们每次进门时都要被仔细地搜身。

7. It is an excellent chance for people to learn team spirit.

这是一次让人们学习团队精神的绝佳机会。

team spirit(n.)  团队精神

If we want to make the show a success, we need to build team spirit.

       如果我们想使这次演出成功，我们需要建立团队精神。

excellent: adj. 非常好的

8. Warm and dry clothes are also necessary to keep you comfortable during the walk.

在游行中温暖而且干燥的衣服对你保持舒适也是很必要的。

keep:   v.      ①保持           ②供养

① Jack can keep calm in danger. Jack有处危不惊的能力。

③ My uncle has a large family to keep. 我叔叔有一大家子要养活。

④ My grandma keeps pigs and hens on her farm.我祖母在农场上养猪鸡。

v. 借（延续性动词）（borrow）（点）

How long can I keep the magazine? 这本杂志我能借多久？

keep doing sth. 一直做某事（反反复复）

It kept raining all night. 整晚一直在下雨。

Don’t keep standing there doing nothing. 别老站在那，什么事也不干。

keep on doing sth. 一直做某事（坚持不懈）

She kept on working although she was tired. 她虽然疲劳但继续工作。

keep + 宾语 + 宾补

(sb.)   (adj. ，prep短语， doing sth.)

① It is a good way to keep our city clean. 这是保持我们城市清洁的一个好方法。

② I’ll keep the brooms behind the door. 我将把扫帚放在门后。

③ I’m sorry to keep you waiting so long. 对不起，让你久等了。

① Each team must raise at least HK$6000. 每个队至少募集6000港币。

② You should give me at least 10 yuan. 你至少要给我10元钱。

③ It’ll take 20minutes at most. 这至多花20分钟。

④ The boy looked nine at most. 这男孩看上去至多九岁。

10.experience               n.[C] 经历，体会，阅历

This will be an experience (you will never forget). 这是一次你将永远不会忘却的经历。（定语从句）

Jack had many interesting experiences while he traveling in Africa.

11. hear about sth.

12. think of doing sth.

考虑做某事，思考做某事

I’m thinking of changing my job.我正在考虑换工作。

We’re thinking of moving to the south. 我们正在考虑搬到南方去。

think about sth.      /doing sth.             考虑某东西/做某事

                            （+宾语从句）

① Uncle Tom is thinking about a problem. He has thought about it for a big time.

13. aim:      [C]n.       目的，目标，意图

① What’s the aim of the activity?

② The aim of Oxfam Trailwalker is to raise money to help people in Hong Kong and other parts of Asia and Africa.

乐施会毅行者的目标是募集钱来帮助香港和亚洲、非洲其它地方的人。

v.    意欲，打算

aim to do sth. 意欲做某事

Vocabulary:

first-aid:         adj.  急救的

You’d better bring a first-aid box. 你最好带一个急救箱。

 

Grammar:

1. give seats to sb.给某人让座

It is easy to give your seat to the elderly. 给老人让座是很容易的。

2. fit:  adj.         ①健壮的

Jack exercises to keep fit every day. Jack 每天锻炼来保持健壮。

②合适的

I am not fit for the job.         我不适合干这份工作。

The water isn’t fit to drink.          这种水不适合饮用。

3. It is+adj.+that从句

It is sad that some people are deaf.

It is wrong that some people look down on the blind.
